Pickford reaches 100 Premier League clean sheets as Tottenham's goal drought continues
Watch Highlights
Jordan Pickford joined the Premier League's 100-clean-sheet club in Everton's 0-0 draw at Tottenham. Spurs remain without a goal after four league matches.

Jordan Pickford reached 100 Premier League clean sheets as Everton drew 0-0 at Tottenham on Saturday, September 12. Spurs have now failed to score in all four of their opening league matches, while the visiting goalkeeper became the 19th player to reach the century mark, according to BBC Sport.

Tottenham's scoreless start is unprecedented in the club's league history, BBC Sport reported. The result also produced the first goalless Premier League draw at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, in its 140th match in the competition. Roberto de Zerbi's side remain without a league win this season.

Mateus Fernandes registered Tottenham's first shot on target shortly after half-time. Everton subsequently missed opportunities through Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Brennan Johnson, before substitute Lucas Bergvall forced a late save from Pickford. The Guardian's match report said the draw kept Everton unbeaten.

De Zerbi apologised to supporters afterwards, BBC Sport reported. He said his team had played well during the opening 30 minutes but lost confidence after failing to score. He also described helping the players and maintaining their focus on improvement as his responsibility.

Pickford's milestone places him in a group that includes Premier League record-holder Petr Cech. BBC Sport's account of the clean-sheet rankings lists Cech on 202, making him the only goalkeeper to exceed 200. David James is his nearest challenger, 33 behind, a gap that illustrates how far Cech remains ahead of the rest of the field. The rankings credit a goalkeeper with a clean sheet only when he plays the full match without conceding a goal.

Cech also holds the records for the highest proportion of clean sheets per appearance and the most consecutive shutouts, according to the BBC. The former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper was the quickest to reach 100. Liverpool's Alisson had been the most recent addition to the century club before Pickford, reaching the milestone in a goalless draw with Leeds on January 1, 2026. Newcastle's Nick Pope is next in line to reach the milestone, with 80 Premier League clean sheets.
